COUNSELLING for Individuals and Couples
Scottish Borders - Face to Face and Online
Background
I've worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist in the NHS, private practice, and trauma recovery services for over ten years. I trained as a counsellor after working in mental health and youth work and prior to that had trained and worked in more body centred therapy
For as long as I can remember and well before entering any formal training in therapeutic work over 30 years ago, I was naturally drawn to understanding who I was, what made me tick and what my life experience meant as it unfolded
I am experienced in working with people who have undergone trauma of most kinds including sexual violence and domestic abuse.
I have a background in body work :
- Neo Reichian Postural Integration /Therapeutic Massage ITEC,
- Dance/Drama including therapy work (BA Hons)
Trauma informed psychotherapy :
- I have experience in trauma recovery using Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and TRE
If you'd like to find out more about TRE, Tension Releasing Exercises - a powerful self help tool which simply reawakens the body's natural ability to release tension and trauma without telling the story, click on the TRE tab on the home page or to find out more visit www.trescotland.com.
Organisations I have worked for include, M.I.N.D, Children 1st (Formerly the RSPCC in Scotland), Domestic Abuse Community Services, Health in Mind, CSA Counselling Services.
My practice is person centred which means I work with your meanings and perceptions in a non judgmental way
- I'll collaborate with you to find the best way we can work together. Whatever the situation my stance is to tune in and meet you where you find yourself in any given moment with respect and without judgment. I do not provide the answers, but I will work with you sharing my knowledge, understanding and humanity to enable the process of you coming to your own answers
I offer a confidential environment in which you will hopefully be able to reflect on your life experience as it is now and how it has been over time. By helping you to access your own resources, you'll discover what is right for you and if necessary or desired, you'll make changes in your life at your own pace of insight and growth.
